More rain, mountain snow headed for Southern California

If you thought Los Angeles was done with the rain, think again. A late season storm is pushing its way into SoCal Monday, bringing an increased chance of rain and mountain snow Tuesday through Thursday, the National Weather service reports.  “We are looking forward to a significant cool down coming our way,” KTLA 5 weatherman Kaj Goldberg said.  A rapidly deepening marine layer moving through the coastal slopes as early as Sunday night will continue well inland, creating the possibility of drizzle or light rain through Monday in Ventura and L.A. counties.  Along with the cloudy, damp conditions, portions of Southern California will also experience gusty winds.  “Wind advisories are in effect through this evening and overnight for the Antelope Valley foothills as well as southwestern Santa Barbara County,” the weather service said. “These advisories will likely need to be extended/reissued for the same areas Monday afternoon and evening.”   California Interactiv...

Hiker finds skeletal remains in San Bernardino County

Authorities are investigating a death after a hiker discovered human skeletal remains in Running Springs on Friday. Deputies from the Twin Peaks Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Holiday Lane and Rim of the World Highway around 8:00 p.m. where they found skeletal remains that appeared to be in an advanced stage of decomposition, according to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department news release.  Major San Bernardino Mountain road under emergency repair due to winter storm Detectives will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. This investigation is ongoing and anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact the Specialized Investigations Division at 909-890-4904.

Mountain View police arrest 24-year-old in stabbing at park

(BCN) -- Mountain View police arrested a 24-year-old man they believe stabbed someone late Saturday night. Police responded around 10 p.m. Saturday to a report of a stabbing near the barbecue pits at Rengstorff Park. Warriors-Lakers playoff series: Start times, TV schedule Officers found a 23-year-old man from Mountain View suffering from at least one stab wound to the upper torso. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of what police said are non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect, identified by police as Mauricio Ortiz-Albarenga, was still at the scene when officers arrived and was detained. DENVER (KDVR) -- It's official. The Colorado Avalanche's season ended with a 2-1 loss at Ball Arena Sunday night. The Avs forced a Game 7 in the best-of-seven series with a 4-1 win in Seattle on Friday night when forward Andrew Cogliano suffered a fractured neck. Although Cogliano returned to finish the game, the severity of his injury was not discovered until Saturday back in Denver. Journeyman Brad Hunt, who had seen some ice time with the team during this season, was recalled from the Colorado Eagles for Game 7. In addition to Cogliano being sidelined, the team was also missing Darren Helm, Josh Manson and Gabriel Landeskog due to injury, and Valeri Nichushkin has been gone for personal reasons. Search continues for missing Lakewood man

DENVER, Colo (KDVR) -- The search continues for a 26-year-old Lakewood man who’s been missing for nearly a month.  Denver Police said James Montoya was last seen leaving the Hangar 101 Bar near Jewell and Wadsworth with another man on the night of April 1. James’ parents, Eddie and Corinna Montoya, said James did not know the man prior to meeting him at the bar. After that, Eddie and Corinna said James’ Snapchat activity placed him near the intersection of Alameda Avenue and Federal Boulevard."He went to their house and that's where our son took a picture and put it on Snapchat," Corinna said. Now nearly a month’s gone by and there's still no sign of their son. "It’s so disheartening and heartbreaking,” Corinna said. “The way we describe it is we’re in a nightmare.”  A dozen puppies taken to local shelter after destructive tornado in Oklahoma Denver Police tell FOX31 they’re now viewing James’ disappearance as suspicious after finding his phone in Weld County. ...

(KDVR) -- Beautiful spring temperatures entice visitors from across the nation and the world to seek the wonder of Rocky Mountain National Park.“I can just wear a T-shirt and there’s snow out,” said one visitor from California.While some are happy to stay in their cars while viewing majestic mountains and astonishing wildlife, others aim to hike on snowy pathways through the forest.“The contrast between seeing the lake and the snow was so beautiful,” said one enthusiastic hiker visiting from Virginia.Park officials tell FOX31 that recent storms have left Bear Lake trails with five to six feet of snow.
